Dustin Johnson wins 2018 St. Jude Classic
Dustin Johnson won the 2018 St. Jude Classic PGA Tour event on June 10. With the win, Johnson reclaims the No. 1 position in the World Golf Ranking.
The win, his 18th, places Johnson in elite company. Since WWII, only 30 PGA Tour players have won 18 or more tournaments. Of those 30, only Johnson and Tiger Woods aren’t in the Hall of Fame, though a position likely waits for both following their retirements.
Aready holding a 4 stroke, Johnson eagled out Sunday to finish the tournament -19, 6 strokes ahead of Andrew Putnam.
Rounding out the top five were J.B. Holmes at -9, Stewart Cink and Richy Werenski at -8.
Johnson hopes to ride the momentum of the win in to Shinnecok Hills for this weekend’s US Open. Though he won in 2016, Johnson will try to become the first to ever claim the Open the week following a PGA Tour win.
