I am going to start you off with some technical data. Make sure you stay awake.

(A) A putter face that is 2 degrees open at impact will miss the hole from 5 feet! For a putt to go in at 8 feet the angle of the face needs to less than 1 degree open or closed. Increase the distance to 15 feet and the putter face needs to less than 0.5 of a degree open or closed.

Can you tell the difference between 1 degree closed or open to your target line? I can’t.

My co-worker, Adam, asked me last Wednesday who I thought would win the FedEx Cup. I thought and thought and came up with – Rory McIlroy. I based my prediction on Rory’s past performance at East Lake – he’d compiled 4 top 10’s in 5 appearances including a win in 2016. He’d always looked comfortable there. He was in the final group with Tiger last year. All the signs, including this years’ 2 wins and tour leading 14 top-10s, were pointing in the right direction.
